International child abduction is a serious and underexposed problem. In addition, the parent of a child often does not know that you are considered a criminal offence if you go abroad without permission from the other. This leads to difficult situations, because you have a child together and you have no right to appropriate it. With this insight we created a print campaign to raise awareness and prevention of international child abduction and above all: clarify that a child can not be owned.

Around the summer holidays, Jurriaan Gossink and I had the opportunity to participate at the NRC Charity Awards. In this, each selected team were assigned to their charity. We got 'Centrum Internationale Kinderontvoering' (Centre for International Child Abduction): the centre for anyone who is confronted with (imminent) international child abduction and professionals who have questions about (imminent) international child abduction. Campaign objective: Awareness and prevention.
2/1 Advert we made. It says: Every working day, a child is abducted by a parent - If you take your child abroad without the permission of the other parent, you may be guilty of international child abduction. This has huge implications for all involved, especially for the child. Prevention is essential. The IKO Center assists anyone who has to deal with (impending) international child abduction. www.kinderontvoering.org
Note: Our advert won the Jury Price in the NRC Charity Awards 2016.
